VAT payments

Professionals and businesses, that submit VAT statements electronically, can now pay VAT dues through the banking system, following a co-operation agreement between the Ministry of Finance, DIAS and a number of Greek banks.

The Payment process

Professionals and businesses that submit VAT statements electronically should take into consideration the following:

· Payment of VAT dues, through the banking system, takes place the latest by the 26th of the month after the period concerned by the electronic VAT statement.

· Debtors authorise their bank to debit their account with the amount due, which is subsequently credited by the bank to the creditor’s account. Debtors can visit their bank or use alternative channels for VAT payments (see below)

Useful advice

Debtors should take into their consideration that partial or outdated payments of VAT dues are not accepted.
