Double-digit growth of processed transactions via DIAS S.A. for a second year in a row in 2022. More particularly, in 2022 DIAS processed 368 million transactions with a total value of €407 billion. This value is more than double Greece’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), according to data of the Hellenic Statistical Authority for 2021. It should be noted that, the transactions’ value processed by DIAS within 2021 was €344 billion.
4,8m transactions in 24 hours – Strong presence of instant payments
It is noted that on December 19th, 2022, a total amount of 4.8 million transactions were processed, setting a new historical high of maximum number of transactions per day.
Moreover, on December 5th, 2022, DIAS reached a historic high processing 56 transactions per second via web services offering instant payments notification.
Out of the total amount of transactions processed in 2022, 84.6% were credit transfers (Bank to Bank credit transfers, instant credit transfers, collections, and payments of businesses/ organizations). 62 million of credit transfers were Bank to Bank credit transfers, that number increased by 27.3% compared to that of 2021. Instant credit transfers constitute a subcategory of credit transfers that reached 28.3% of credit transfers in 2022 and amounted to 17.5 million transactions, recording an increase of 107% compared to 2021.
Significant growth regarding IRIS payments of DIAS S.A.
In 2022 the IRIS Payments service was significantly strengthened. The service is offered by DIAS in cooperation with Payment Service Providers aiming to further improve speed, user experience and security. IRIS payments comprise of instant money transfers to friends (IRIS P2P), to small businesses and professionals (IRIS P2B) and payments in e-shops (IRIS e-commerce) that increased by 214%, 109% and 68% respectively, compared to last year’s. IRIS P2P users are now 1.4 million (with 59 thousand new registered users in December 2022 alone) and IRIS P2B has 85 thousand registered professionals.
