Statement by Stavroula Kampouridou, CEO of DIAS S.A.

“2025 demonstrated that digital payments in Greece do not merely follow economic growth – they actively shape it.

Between 2020 and 2025, transaction volumes processed through the DIAS Payment System grew at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 13%, nearly double the growth rate of Greece’s nominal GDP over the same period. This performance reflects the success of digitalisation policies and the expansion of instant payments. At the same time, it highlights the strength of collaboration between DIAS, banks, Payment Service Providers and the State, reaffirming the role of critical payment infrastructures as accelerators of economic activity.

Instant payments are evolving into universal services for everyday transactions for individuals, professionals and businesses, enhancing transparency, liquidity and financial inclusion across the country.”

Enhancing IRIS usability through the doubling of daily transaction limits

Following the strong momentum and widespread adoption of IRIS, DIAS is proceeding, as of 15 January 2026, with a doubling of daily transaction limits for IRIS Person-to-Person (P2P) and IRIS Person-to-Professionals (P2Pro) services.

Specifically, users can now:

  • send up to €1,000 per day to individuals via IRIS P2P (with a monthly limit of €5,000), and
  • up to €1,000 per day to freelancers and sole proprietors via IRIS P2Pro.

The increase in limits reflects the trust placed in IRIS by millions of users on a daily basis and responds to real market needs, further enhancing the flexibility and usability of instant payments in both personal and professional transactions.
