At a glance
Direct Debits constitute DIAS’ interbank service for the automatic settlement of bills and recurring obligations through account-to-account payments.
Through the service, payments are executed automatically and on time, without any action required from the payer, based on the relevant mandate (direct debit authorisation).
The service infrastructure is fully aligned with the rules of the European SEPA payment schemes: SEPA Direct Debit Core when the payer is a consumer, and SEPA Direct Debit Business-to-Business when the payment is made between businesses or relates to the payer’s professional activity.
The service is available through Banks and Payment Service Providers participating in the DIAS Payment System, offering a unified and interoperable framework for the settlement of obligations at both national and European level.
A direct debit mandate may be provided either via the participating Banks or directly to the Business / Organisation.

For Individuals
With DIAS Direct Debit, you can settle your bills and recurring payments automatically and on time, without having to remember due dates or initiate manual payments.
How it works
- The beneficiary (business or organisation) provides you with a unique direct debit mandate code (RF).
- You set up a direct debit either with your chosen Bank or directly with the Business / Organisation (where available), authorising the debit of your account and optionally setting a maximum charge limit.
- The payment is executed automatically through your Bank or Payment Service Provider.
The RF code ensures that each payment is accurately identified and matched to the correct obligation. In case of an error or refund, the transaction is quickly and securely identified.
Benefits for individuals:
Security
Transactions are executed in accordance with the SEPA Direct Debit European scheme.
Convenience
Payments are made automatically—no need to remember due dates.
Flexibility
Choose your preferred Bank or Payment Service Provider and set a maximum debit limit.
Reliability
Payments are executed accurately and on time, both domestically and cross-border within SEPA.
With DIAS Direct Debit, your payments become simple, fast and stress-free. Set up the mandate once and let the process work for you—with full control and security ensured by the RF code.
For Businesses
DIAS Direct Debit enables businesses and organisations to collect receivables automatically and on time, without delays, and with full visibility over their incoming payments.
How it works
- The business collaborates with the Bank of its choice to collect payments through DIAS Direct Debit.
- The Bank provides the operational specifications, and the business selects the preferred technical implementation—from simple to fully automated integration.
- After completing technical testing (with a fully automated self-certification environment), the business creates and provides the RF mandate codes to payers so that mandates can be registered either directly with the Business or via the Payment Service Provider.
- The Business submits collection requests via DIAS Direct Debit, either automatically through file transfers or interactively via its connection with DIAS.
- Mandates may be recurring for regular charges or one-off for a single payment, depending on business needs.
