The DIAS Payment System offers a wide range of payment services.

85.5% of the transactions processed in 2021 are credit transfers (Bank to Bank credit transfers, instant credit transfers, collection, and payments of businesses/organizations). 48.7 million credit transfers fall under the subcategory of Bank to Bank credit transfers, that increased by 24% compared to 2020. 17% of Bank to Bank credit transfers, meaning 8.5 million are under the category of instant credit transfers and increased by 65.1% compared to 2020 and 1.8 million are under the category of IRIS Person to Person and increased by 140.3% compared to 2020.

The transactions of this payment service increased by 11.9% compared to 2020. A significant part of these transactions was processed with the use of the interbank payment product, RF/ QR code payments. Both DIAS and credit institutions aim to promote and develop the use of RF/QR payment code, in order to facilitate and ensure the payments’ accuracy. 75% of organizations and businesses connected to the DIAS Payment System have already adopted the standardization offered by the RF/QR payment code. Considering that in 2022 the RF/QR payment code is planned to be adopted by several large public organizations and companies, the number of these transactions is expected to grow furthermore.

An indicative list of the type of entities of both the private and public sectors that use the RF/QR payment code includes tax authorities (using it to collect taxes such as circulation taxes), social security institutions, companies in the energy and telecommunications sector, insurance and pharmaceutical companies, companies offering mailing services, businesses in the car industry, private educational institutions, retail companies in electronics, clothing, cosmetic companies etc.

Payments of businesses/organizations reached 31.1% of transactions the DIAS Payment System processed in 2021, amounting 102.2 million. The increase in this payment category compared to 2020 is 9.7%. 100.7 million of these transactions result from the public sector (public servants’ payrolls, pensions, benefits) whereas the remaining 1.5 million transactions result from private entities and increased by 88.8% compared to 2020.

Furthermore, 17.2 million transactions (7.1% of the transactions processed in 2021) are direct debits, increased by 16.5% compared to 2020. This increase derives mainly from companies in the energy & insurance sector.

Moreover, in 2021 transactions in other payment service categories were also significantly increased such as IRIS payments in e-shops using the product IRIS eCommerce, which increased by 75% compared to 2020.
